In spite of all my previous attitudes about running, I have recently been inspired. At work I did some training on Brooks running shoes, and I am really impressed by their new PureProject line. They address aspects of shoes that I have been concerned about, heel strike, stability, and connection with the road. Also, my boss Skip said if I completed the brand training, he'd buy me a pair of the PureProject shoes to try out. But the deal came with a challenge. He asked me to really road test the shoes. He wants me to pick an event to train for, running if possible. So, I decided that a 5k is an attainable goal. I have a training schedule and my new shoes are on their way. I even have a running buddy. Ok, so what if she's my 110 lb. supermodel sister who doesn't get the bouncing thing.... She promised she won't make fun of me. I believe her. And she'll hold me accountable.
Also, I have to beat Dallin out of the 200 club. I'm stuck at 218 and I want to be under 200 again ASAP. Reading up on it, it looks like running has been the answer for a lot of people. I've read up on tips, training schedules, and all of that. I'm feeling pretty pumped for my first run tomorrow. But isn't that always how it goes? You're super pumped for a new experience but then it doesn't go like you planned so you quit... I have to, HAVE TO stick to this...
So here goes nothing. My first run is tomorrow morning. Then I have the whole week to run in one of the most beautiful places I know, Redfish lake. I'll keep a journal of my first week and get back to you.
Happy trails!
